With a little effort, you can create a homemade water slide that will provide hours of fun for your kids (and maybe even some adults).

All you need is a simple camping tarp, hose pipe and a cheap bottle of shampoo or washing up liquid.

How to make a cheap do it yourself garden water slide for kids and adults to enjoy in the summer in your back yard.
Things you need:
- Water slide tarp or plastic sheeting
- Hose Pipe
- Washing up liquid

- Roll out the tarp, be it a bought one for a water slide, or a campaign tarp from a hardware store, just roll it out to the maximum length or to how much space you have. Make sure you have a run off area at the end and ensure there is no danger is someone does go off the end, such as a large tree, brick wall, fence etc.
- Get your hose pipe out and turn it on, give the plastic sheeting a good drenching and then place it at the top of the water slide. You could leave it on the ground with the water spraying down the water slide, or better still, stretch your clothing line over the top end of the water slide, hang the hose pipe over this and point it down the slide too.
- Drop a little shampoo or washing up liquid onto the tarp and wash it in, this will make some bubbles and also make the tarp slippy making it fun, quick and slidey for kids when the go down the water slide.
Once set up you are ready to go! Or should I say slide! This is great fun and will keep the kids entertained all day. The only issue is sometimes the adults take over they and they don’t get a look in!
