Features

First off this hot tub is really easy to set up. There are no need for special tools or the need for a specialist tradesmen to set up. Just unbox it all, there are clear step by step instructions on how to set up and also a DVD you can watch that shows you exactly what to do. Once set up the hot tub will quickly inflate using the pump that comes with this, just plug it in and let it inflate. Once inflated it is then a matter of filling the spa, connecting a hose pipe to the tap and letting it fill is the easier and quickest way, if all fails you can use a bucket however it will take a lot of buckets to fill!

Once filled it is time to let it heat up, it is a good idea to let it heat up over night so that come the next day it is ready to use. Heating the spa from cold can take up to 10 hours, so don’t expect to be using it right away. Once heated you can kick back and relax. The Lay-Z-Spa hot tub has 81 little air jets built into it, that create the bubbles. This creates a very relaxing and soothing experience that also very nice on those aching muscles.

The external pump for this spa has all the controls on it allowing you to adjust the temperature up and down, as well as turning the air jets on and off. The maximum temperature the water can be heated to is 104F (40C), this is certainly warm enough for most and is very comfortable to relax in.

When in the hot tub, the air jets can cool the water, however unless you are in the for a few hours this isn’t an issue, and when not in use it can reheat to its set temperature.

This hot tub comes with an inflatable cover that helps stop debris from falling in, and also helps maintain heat too. The height of this spa is 65cm, when relaxing in this the water comes up to around your shoulders depending on your height. If there are more of you in the spa then you won’t be able to relax or stretch out as much so you will have to sit more upright, and the water would be at chest height. With the water being nice and warm this isn’t an issue really, however if you want something bigger than the slightly larger Vegas spa maybe worth looking at.

From the outside the hot tub is black and has a matching cover, on the inside there is a mosaic pattern printed on, something you may see at a swimming pool that gives the water a really nice and inviting blue color. It really does make it look very inviting.

To get the best from this inflatable hot tub you just need to look after it, cleaning out the filters, changing when needed and also checking the water. Keeping the filter clean helps to protect the pump as it removes any stones, hair or debris from the water as it pumps it round.

In the instructions it says you should change the water every 5 to 6 weeks, but I think depends who and how often you use it, and really is up to you, if you think the water doesn’t look so inviting then change it!

Pros & Cons

At this price point it is hard to fault and there are certainly many benefits and things to love about this inflatable hot tub.

Things we love

  • Very very easy to set up, and comes with a useful set up DVD too
  • Perfect size for couples or smaller gardens
  • Looks very stylish and inviting
  • Great price and great value, very relaxing and enjoyable for a small investment

Our dislikes

  • Would be great if the pump heated the water while it is in use
  • Doesn’t come with any chemicals, so you need to buy these separately.
  • Feels like an age when it’s heating up after filling (Really struggling with things to dislike about this!)

Bottom Line

This is the perfect inflatable hot tub for couples. If you are looking for a hot tub for 2 adults then is is ideal, it is well built, comes with everything you need and is very well priced and makes great value. If you have kids or perhaps want a hot tub you can enjoy with friend then you may want to consider something slightly larger, such as the Lay-Z-Spa Vega spa which is ideal for 4 adults.

For the price it is hard to fault, it looks great, works really well and is perfect for the summer. Be it you and your partner, or your kids, this is perfect for relaxing in, if you are looking at investing in an inflatable hot tub then this is certainly worth considering. It is well priced and if looked after can be used for many years to come. A great hot tub for the money and worth every cent.

After much consideration my wife and I made the decision 7 months ago to purchase a Palm Springs hydrojet Lay-z-spa as a tenth wedding anniversary gift to each other – something we hoped we would get a lot enjoyment and use out of, for a long time to come.

Initially all was well, it was easily installed and operated very well and we were extremely happy with our purchase. This being the case, we had to pack the spa away shortly after purchasing it as local conditions weren’t conducive to running it. Recently, we excitedly got it back out as conditions were again good and set it up again.

Now, in my ownership I had diligently maintained it, as it cost a lot of money – as you are all probably aware. My maintenance of the spa also, most definitely included paying attention to safe inflation pressure limits – that being 1.2 PSI. So with all this in mind, I set it up about two weeks ago and had since used it, maybe 3 or 4 times. All in all, since purchasing it, a total usage of definitely no more than one month. You could even tell it was barely used, as there was next to no discolouration inside the pool.

So, a few days ago I decide to heat the spa up for a dip later that night and as I’m sitting in my lounge I hear an extremely loud POP, puzzled I went outside and looked around trying to figure out what it was. I couldn’t, so I went back inside, only to hear another loud POP a short while later. I went back outside and to my horror observed a large bulge in the liner and instantly realised what had happened.

Immediately I called the sales agent in the country I live and was told that despite it’s light usage and due to it being a month out of warranty, the best they could do was offer another liner at cost price – not really good enough if you ask me given it’s usage. Interestingly, as it turns out, all of the Palm Springs hydrojet liners are out of stock – go figure…

I can’t speak to the other Lay-z-spa products, but assume they are likely as shoddily constructed as the Palm springs and as such it is my recommendation that the Best(more aptly named WORST)way, Palm Springs lay-z-spa hydrojet model, should be avoided like the the PLAGUE! In hindsight I wish I had spent more on a solid spa, which would have actually lasted and this would be the advice I would give to anyone thinking about purchasing a worstway pop-up spa. Again – an extremely weak product and a giant waste of money. Save your hard earned cash and spend it on something that actually lasts – LONGER THAN A MONTH!!!!!

We have just bought one for our garden and I built a staging in our garden for this spa to rest on however was a mistake putting it on the staging as its so loud it echoed the noise horribly so when I have the time I am cutting a hole in the decking to allow me to stand the motor on a separate piece of wood hopefully it wont be as noisy but will have to see first 🙂 other wise its great for relaxing after work but as anew owner have had to empty this afternoon and clean and refill took around 1 hr and half but its getting warmer just hope its warm enough for my wife when she finishes work 🙂
