Best 5 Inflatable Air Beds For Camping

So which is the best inflatable air bed for camping? Now the most important thing to note is if we are camping, we are outdoors; a key criteria is it must be robust, durable, easy to inflate and also most importantly. comfortable.

That noted there are still several factors out there and not all airbeds are equal; nor is everyone looking for the same thing.

Best Inflatable Air Beds For Camping

The price (most important factor to many but not all people) depends on the features of the airbed. For example, one with a frame that sets up like a real bed is obviously going to be more expensive than one that isn’t. Size, is also another factor: there are twin air beds to king air beds. As with everything, not everyone wants the same thing in an air bed so several choices will be listed.

Our top choice is the Light speed Outdoors 2-Person PVC-Free Air Bed. It is super comfy, robust and designed for the great outdoors.

Lightspeed Outdoors 2-Person Air Bed

This is a well priced and robust 2 person airbed. It comes with a small battery powered pump making it easy to inflate when camping. The size of this airbed measures 79 x 55 x 6.25 inches, and weighs just 6 pounds packed. The colour of this airbed makes it look and feel like it should be outside, the dark green army color gives it an outdoor feel and also means dirt and marks won’t easily show up.

Importantly, it is extremely comfortable and made with higher grade materials to minimize the stretching, tearing and deflating on its own that is all too common with airbeds. It comes with a special “Boston valve” to allow for adjusting for the firmness of the airbed. It also comes with a one year warranty from the manufacturer in case anything goes wrong with it. It is more comfortable than other airbeds but also more expensive than what some are going to be willing to spend, however it is comfy, it is well built and robust making it ideal for taking with your when camping.

Raised Camping Airbeds – A lot of airbeds are very slim in height, meaning that you are sleeping on the floor, this can sometimes not be comfortable when camping and also makes it more difficult to get in and out of. These are two of the best raised airbeds ideal for camping.

Intex Pillow Rest Raised Airbed

A popular airbed from Intex is the Intex Pillow Rest Raised Airbed with Built-in Pillow and Electric Pump. It is a raised airbed that raises you higher than most other airbeds lifting you further off the ground. This makes it easier to get in and out of and also makes it a little more comfortable when camping.

Intex Pillow Rest Raised Airbed
High-powered, built-in pump makes inflation and deflation easy, inflates mattress in approximately 3 minutes.

This is a Inflatable queen airbed with built-in electric pump, it has a waterproof flocked top with double-layered wave beam interior construction and built-in pillows for added comfort, raised 16.5 inches from floor. There is a high-powered, built-in electric pump inflates mattress in approximately 4 minutes. This is an electric pump so you would need  a power outlet at your campsite or you can use your car to inflate it. This version also includes carry bag for convenient storage and transportation. Dimensions: 60 x 16.5 x 80 inches (W x H x L), 600-Pound capacity.

Coleman Queen Airbed Cot

If sleeping on the ground isn’t for you then this airbed comes with a raised structure to lift you off the ground while still having an airbed mattress.

Folding Camp Cot and Air Bed
  • AirTight system is factory-tested to be leak-free
  • ComfortStrong coil system provides better support for all-night comfort

For the price tag this is well designed and works very well. The one drawback to be aware of with this bed is that it and the frames are heavier to carry around than the other options listed here; but that is to be expected. Once set up this is a very comfy bed and great for camping if you have the space in your car for the frame.

If you are looking for a cheaper option when it comes to your camping airbed then these are fine choices at under $50 each.

Coleman Quick Bed

If you were looking for a smaller airbed that is at the cheaper end of the scale, this might be your best bet. It is for sale in twin, full and queen. And it sells at around half the price of the previously mentioned bed.

Coleman Air Mattress with Soft Plush Top | QuickBed Inflatable Air Bed, Queen
  • Soft plush top creates a velvet-like sleep surface for more comfort
  • ComfortStrong coil construction provides better support

However, it is crucial to keep in mind that this does NOT include the price of the pump that is needed for the bed. This one is durable enough that even pets being on the airbed with you will not cause it to break.

Intex Downy Airbed with Built-in Foot Pump

Finally we have a cheaper airbed listed because I am aware that not everyone is going to want to spend the $80+ on an airbed. Intex happens to be one of the better known, if not best known brand of airbeds.

Intex Downy Airbed with Built-in Foot Pump, Queen
  • 20 gauge flocked waterproof top with 15 gauge sides
  • Built in foot pump

This popular Intent airbed comes in a dark green with a 20 gauge flocked waterproof top with 15 gauge sides. There is a built in foot pump for inflating with a 2-in-1 valve for optional electric inflating. When deflated it folds compactly for storage and travel.

Which to buy?

Well our choice is the Light speed Outdoors 2-Person PVC-Free Air Bed with Battery Operated Pump. A great all rounder and perfect for camping. Robust, well designed and very comfy.

Next up is the queen airbed cot from Coleman. It is more expensive than the rest and is heavier than what will just go in a backpack so I realize not everyone will want it, however it is a great choice if you are looking for a raised bed.
